WELCOME, 2021!
The Year 2020 was supposed to be a year every Malaysian had looked forward to, whereby our beloved country would arrive as a first-world nation, characterized by a high standard of living, a developed and industrialized economy, political stability, and rule of law. There would be access to modern infrastructure, world-class education, and the absence of extreme poverty. Sadly, it was not to be.
In fact, 2020 brought a lot of anxiety, hardship, and gloom, not only to our shores but the world over. The Covid-19 pandemic still looms as we look to the sturdy “metal” Ox to see us through 2021! There’s hope yet, that the pandemic would blow over in the coming months as thousands are being vaccinated every day. Till then, we are still locked down under the Movement Control Order (MCO) in most parts of Malaysia.
As responsible citizens, the eating kakis will do their bit by observing the rules and regulations set by the authorities. We pray that the daily figure of over 3,000 cases will soon be reduced to hundreds and eventually zero. For the time being, our gatherings are suspended. Tuesday 2 presents Giant Tiger Prawn Thermidor.
A most
delicious dish! The ingredients are butter, garlic, thyme, rosemary, cooking
cream, milk, salt, and pepper. Not forgetting the fresh XXL Tiger Prawns. A
short video in the preparation is attached. Bake and enjoy!!

Thus far, 2021
has been a quiet and uneventful one for the Eating Kakis. Malaysia, like most
countries in the world, has been saddled with this prolonged Covid Pandemic for
well over a year. And it looks like Covid is here to stay and it is set to
change our way of life. Social distancing and wearing masks might well be the
new norms. So will booster jabs, checking in at places, temperature checks and
possibly carrying a vaxx passport? We have to keep our hygiene by washing our
hands regularly and avoid crowded areas. Stay safe, take care.
Our regular fellowship has been put on hold. In fact, our last gathering was way back on 31st October 2020. As the French would put it, “C’est la vie!” The good news is we intend to keep this blog alive with weekly postings from our “in-house chefs” Cewie and Vincent. They have agreed to share lovely photos of their home-cooking.
