Longjing Restaurant is a prominent Chinese restaurant specializing in Zhejiang cuisine. To date, it has over 500 outlets (!!) and it has spread to Malaysia with multiple branches. In fact, a new branch is expected to be opened at Queens Bay Mall in June this year. Originated from the famous West Lake of Hangzhou, the restaurant is known for its many Longjing tea-infused specialties. The waiters and waitresses, all dressed in traditional Chinese attire, certainly add to the “West Lake” ambience.
We started with the highly recommended Longjing Roasted Chicken – a tea-infused chicken. The chicken was small, well-roasted and soft on the inside. Double thumbs up, especially with the sauce. Next came the Stewed Taro and it lived up to its “signature dish” status. It was slowly cooked to a creamy texture with a rich flavour. Yummy!
The Vermicelli Wrapped Shrimps is easily the star of the lunch – garlicky with lots of onions. The vermicelli was well stir-fried, and the prawns were reasonably big and fresh. A small pot though. The other two dishes were also tasty – Sweet and Sour Pork Tenderloin and Clams and Loofah.
All in all, Longjing Restaurant warrants a revisit as the dishes were delicious, service was attentive and the total bill was not too pricey. The only setback was that Longjing does not have a nice round table to cater for a group of ten. Perhaps, the new branch at Queens Bay Mall will have a bigger space!
