A Blessed 2026!
For our first gathering of the year, we decided to try Japanese food for a change. Dozo @ Summerskye Square was highly recommended. Apparently, Dozo is a popular Japanese restaurant in London. The Malaysian head chef of Dozo, Hon San was an ex-sous chef at the world-renowned Nobu Restaurant in Beijing! As such, our expectations were high.
As there were eight of us, we agree to order separate set lunches as taste will differ. And none of us were Japanese foodies. So, there were orders for Sake Teriyaki Set which is Grilled Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce (at RM31.80 per set), Tori Karaage Curry Don Set which is Deep Fried Marinated Chicken with Japanese Curry on Rice (at RM29.80 per set), Sake Oyako Set which is Salmon Sushi Roll, Salmon Nigiri Sushi & Salmon Hand Roll (at RM32.80 per set) and Shoyun Ramen which is Noodles with Roasted Pork Belly, Egg & Japanese Fish Cake in Pork Bone Broth (at RM35.80 per bowl).
Well, the Tori Karaage Curry Don Set was a complete meal with classic miso soup, a nice mix of vegetables and a smooth chawanmushi (steamed egg custard). The deep-fried crispy chicken was served over rice with a generous portion of Japanese Curry. A thumbs up! The Kyushu Ramen bowl had tender slices of roasted pork belly upon a tasty soup of pork bone broth. The stock was rich and wholesome. Another delicious pick!
The other two orders were also well received except that the Salmon Sushi Roll was not up to the mark. We brought it to the attention of the captain who was quick to offer to replace it. However, we declined the offer. All in all, Dozo was a winner! Nice ambience and wonderful service.
We were glad that Vincent’s classmates, Chin Han Juan and Mr. and Mrs. Cheah Kam Chiew took time off to be with us. They have been schoolmates since they were 7 years old! As they say, “Friendship is one of life’s greatest gift! Whether it’s a friend who’s been by your side since childhood or someone you just clicked with instantly, true friendship makes life richer”.
